Contract signed: "Broderick Crawford", "William Cagney", 2 pages (front and verso), 8½x19. No place, 1947 June 17. Screen Actors Guild Minimum Contract for Free Lance Players, signed by Broderick Crawford as Actor and William Cagney, on behalf of Cagney Productions, Inc., as Producer. Crawford is hired to play the role of "Krupp" in the film The Time of Your Life for a salary of $5,000 per week. BRODERICK CRAWFORD (1911-1986) won the 1949 Academy Award for Best Actor for his performance as ruthless political leader Willie Stark in All the King's Men. He is also remembered for starring opposite Judy Holliday in 1950's Born Yesterday and for his television series, Highway Patrol (1955-1959), on which he starred as Captain Dan Matthews, the gravel-voiced Chief who barked "10-4" on the police radio. WILLIAM CAGNEY (1905-1988), the brother of film star James Cagney (and his look-alike), was a movie producer, working almost exclusively on his brothers films. After serving as Associate Producer on earlier films, including Yankee Doodle Dandy (1942), he became lead producer on later films like Blood on the Sun (1945) and the film shown here. He appeared on camera with brother James, while also producing, Kiss Tomorrow Goodbye (1950). While including other well-known actors, including Crawford and William Bendix, The Time of Your Life was something of a family affair, featuring sister Jeanne Cagney as well as brother James.
